The Inventor
Alexander Cartwright Jr. was the father of baseball. Alex began his career as a volunteer firefighter and a bookseller. He led an establishment called the Knickerbocker Base Ball Club in 1842. They played a game called town ball. Later, the Knickerbockers soon played the very first game called "Baseball" in 1846. They faced a team called the New York Niners and eventually won that game with a whopping 23 to 1.
